Description
Ms. Golden Delicious is no ordinary drag queen, and in her far-out take on the One Woman Show, she’s on a journey to bring back ENTHUSIASM! Her signature lip sync style to uproarious comedy mixes and live-sung parodies are a riff on the very gay tradition of referencing pop culture, steeped with healthy portions of reverence and resentment for icons past and present. Inspired by drag legends like Lypsinka, Lady Bunny and of course, RuPaul, Golden merges a nostalgic energy with her contemporary take-downs on everything from Fruit Farming to Blowjobs (especially blowjobs.) Appropriate for fans of comedy, musical theatre and dick jokes, it’s a hit with the gays, but boring people like it too.
Mark Montondo escapes into the wacky world of his drag character, Golden Delicious to explore his newly upturned life the only way he knows how: by pasting together sound clips both popular and obscure to tell a story of healing the inner child, reclaiming his (her?) voice and conquering the world. Along the way, Golden Delicious teaches the audience to unabashedly scream “GOOD JOB!” at anything that tickles their fancy, a trend she created that has swept NYC queer culture, and is sure to make an impact on audiences in Edinburgh. Mark Montondo is a producer, actor, writer, and the artist behind NYC’s juiciest drag apple: Ms. Golden Delicious.
